Smiles

I was thinking about someone I know and I felt a smile tickling my lips, this poem was birthed just moments later.

Smiles  -  31 Jul 13

In a moment of indecision
Smile
She said
I smiled
And looked deep into her eyes
Decision took me
Shook me
Said
Smile
She kissed me with her eyes

I think my smile was seen ...

Cloak Of Night

When this poem first started growing I had no idea where it was going but, after a few lines, I realised that it was a Love song and even carried a chorus of sorts on each stanza.  I rather like the effect and hope you do too.

Cloak Of Night  -  30 Jul 13

Night
Her cloak of stars
Pale shimmering
Questing for a reason
In the darkness

She had watched
Through all the years
Touched me
Let me touch her
In the darkness

Held me close
Her Love wrapped me
Forever
Eternity was ours
In the darkness

The reason found
Meaning given
Special thoughts
A song of Love
In the darkness

A thank you to Muse for her prompts toward completion of this Love song.

Missing You

Just a little take of longing ...

Missing You  -  29 Jul 13

Looking out
Watching the waves
Ocean ~ corn fields
Blue and green
Meld and melt
Into one

Waiting to see you
Return again
To me
You are missing
From me
An empty space
Remains
In my mind
In my life

I can see the Ocean waves and the green grassy waves clearly in my mind.

Possibilities

Another limite surrĂ©aliste ~ or is it something more?

Possibilities  -  28 Jul 13

Endless dreams
Open doorways
On an empty
Rain-washed path
Through tree-lined
Desert sands
Fire in the clouds
Morning darkness
Mourning sickness
Can we remember
Tomorrow before it comes
Or do we have to wait
For yesterday
To catch up
With today

Moon Whispers

This was going to be a Love poem but as it grew, it became obvious that more was happening.  The format was one in which the last word in a stanza became the first in the next and I have to admit that the very first word had to be changed so that the whole concept would flow.

Moon Whispers  -  27 Jul 13

Cloud of light
Moon whispers
As she watches me
Secretly kissing
Our memories

Memories refresh
As the years
Flow through the mind
I watch the missed
Opportunities

Opportunities present
Themselves again
They are never really missed
And we can try again
To play

Play the game of whispers
Watch the years slip
Missing themselves
A long awaited kiss
Becomes a mental cloud

I think it works ~ what say you?

Moon

This poem grew as a kind of response to my last poem about the Rain Shadow, it seemed to be asking for some sort of follow-up ~ and Muse kept prodding me so I gave in.

Moon  -  26 Jul 13

Silver
On the eastern horizon
Trees hold her face
As she smiles

Stars hidden by a veil
Night is too bright
Her beauty shines
On everything

Joyful branches
Lay a pattern
On me
Moon shadow

I get the feeling that there is something more to follow this.

Rain

A little friendly challenge was laid before me, to write a poem around the words "Rain Shadow".  I accepted and this is the result.

Rain  -  24 Jul 13

Shadows left
Under trees
No sun
Rain

Air gently scented
Cool breath
Falling drops
Circles on puddles

Thunder dances
Across the sky
Secret Lover
Illuminates

A little kiss
As we dance
Holding close
In the rain shadow

What do you think ... challenge successfully completed?

Doorway

Taking limite surrĂ©aliste to a higher level gradually, it is my intent to take these as far as I can.

Doorway  -  23 Jul 13

Wind in open doors
Casting shadows
Cascading echoes
Trap thoughts
In melancholy branches
Eyes of the night
Watch intently
As the ocean sings
Lullabies
To the children
Of the Kraken

I really do not know how far I can take these poems but I shall continue as far as I can.

Bound In Love

This poem is a blend of limite surrĂ©aliste and Love song ~ I feel that it works quite well.

Bound In Love  -  22 Jul 13

Moon kissed
Held gently
Bound by stars
In a Lovers embrace
Wrapped in daylight
To warm with the sun
Wrapped in night
To tease with a promise
And lay the first tender
Touch
Rainbow robes jewelled
With wishes and kisses
To last through
The night

Thanking Muse for the little push here.

Window Open

Another of my limite surrĂ©aliste poems which grew in the very early hours of the day.

Window Open  -  22 Jul 13

Moments in which
A painted window
On a painted wall
Lets in light from
Somewhen else
And shadows dance
To music conducted
By the trees
And dancing in the waterfall
From the sky
Moments when the stars
Painted on the window
Open to the night

It is my intention that, one day, I shall take these poems to the next level.

Calling You

Just a simple call to that "someone special" ~ we all have a someone and often send out the message to them to draw them to us.

Calling You  -  21 Jul 13

Putting out a call
Requesting
Pleading
Wanting you to be here

In a lonely night
Emptiness
Surrounds me
I need you now

Days seem so bright
Yet smiles
Are so distant
And words are silent

Nights ~ days ~ empty
Hearing your voice
In my mind
I need you now

We know who we are calling.

Dreamy

Another poem to come out of a hot afternoon when thoughts flowed through my mind without any direction from me.

Dreamy  -  18 Jul 13

Many forms
Passing through
Leave imprints on me
In the wake of a
Dreamy afternoon

You were there
In incarnations
I remember all
Through times
Eternal

I often go into these spaces and Muse usually accompanies me.

Happy

Filling a space in my thoughts ~ the word Happy seemed to fit perfectly.

Happy  -  17 Jul 13

You knew
The ways to make me happy
How to show me
How happy I made you

The gentle touches
We shared
Allowed to grow
And flourish

Feeding our Souls
Nourishing us
In ways we never
Expected to happen

Hope it makes you happy to read this.

Immortalised

Another of the chance sightings, this time I saw part of the opening line ~ "Take a walk through ... " and the rest just grew.

Immortalised  -  16 Jul 13

Take a walk
Through a graveyard
Read the unwritten
Stories of Loves lost
And won
And kept Eternally
Immortalised in stone
Cherished in the Heart
Of you …
Angel

This just felt right and fits with what I have seen and felt in graveyards.

Afternoon Call

Another hot afternoon, quite a few houses had barbecues and the smoke was rising but suddenly in the midst of that ...

Afternoon Call  -  14 Jul 13

Perfume
Carried on the sultry
Afternoon air
Lady somewhere
Sends a message
Come find me

I haven't the faintest idea who was sending the message but the perfume was one of the warm, rich versions.

Gently

This  poem drifted gently into my mind and asked to be written out.

Gently  -  14 Jul 13

Folding my Heart
Gently
So you can keep
It in your pocket

Kissing my Heart
Gently
So I will always
Remember you

Sorry ~ I couldn't resist the gently joke ☺

Gateway [Acrostic]

Another acrostic poem - just because I like doing them.

Gateway  -  13 Jul 13

Gathered in my arms
Against a wind from the void
Time’s gateway opens
Endless paths into space
Where we can become
Aware of us and
You and I become We

There will almost certainly be more of these as well as other things.

Passing Window

This came at a time when I was least expecting something to form.

Passing Window  -  12 Jul 13

A moment passes
Random thoughts
Scratch through
The murk on the window
Let day enter

Night’s kiss
Knight’s dream
Passing from day
To night
Tonight

Night to
Bring dreams alive
Viewed through the
Open wound of the window
In the passing moment

Another limite surréaliste though it is rather more surreal than the others.

Pause Before Waking

I had no idea of what to offer today then, as often happens, a chance sighting of a couple of words triggered this.

Pause Before Waking  -  12 Jul 13

In the moments
Before dawn
A tiny pause
Momentary silence
We take a breath
Before
The sun awakes
And stirs us
To become

I really Love the way Muse offers things to me.

Brushes

Another example of Muse offering just the opening line and suggesting that I finish it.

Brushes  -  10 Jul 13

Soft subtle strokes
Paint you
On me

In my mind
On everything
I do

You have taken
My colours and
Painted you

You have added
Your colours
To me

Our rainbow palette
Has left new colours
On us

I Love the way Muse works with me.

Fragments

This poem did not go the way I expected it to, I was surprised to find that it ended up as a cry for assistance ~ it still works though.

Fragments  -  09 Jul 13

Fragments
Scattered
Blown by an
Unforgiving
Wind

Sun storm
Gales
Scour worlds
Between
The stars

Gather me up
Again
Make me
Whole
Complete

Let the wind
Pass on
Keep me
Safe
Here in your arms

I Love the way Muse can shift things so something new comes out.

Evening's Promise

This poem grew on another hot, sticky afternoon in which it was only when standing outside that there was any relief from the heat.  Muse was kind and offered suggestions to complete this when I felt I was struggling just a bit.

Evening's Promise  -  08 Jul 13

Smell of evening
Dusty leaves
Mingles
With a hint of spice
From flowers

Heat of the day
Fading
Gradually
Into the cool
Of night

Wisps of dream
Start to touch
And whisper
Even in the waking
Moments

The dreams of tomorrow
Start to fill the thoughts
Of now
Night plays
Games again

The night is still rather humid and hot but I feel that I will sleep.

Summer Afternoon

This poem came from actual conditions ~ it was hot, sunny and with  a cooling breeze.  The rest came from inspiration by Muse.

Summer Afternoon  -  06 Jul 13

Hot sun cool breeze
Summer afternoon
Unnamed flowers sign
Their names across the sky

Hot thoughts
In a day of Passion
Unwritten words penned
Phantom sounds in us

Cool wishes requested
But the night remains hot
Fired by the flames
Of Passion

Dreamy heat, taking thoughts to new places.

Night Eyes

This came out of memory, a time when I walked on the sand across the bay in afternoons and evenings.  Brought into the now with thoughts of a "you" who wasn't with me at that time.

Night Eyes  -  06 Jul 13

The evening is growing thin
Night is breaking through
To leave stars
In your eyes
To light my way
To you

On my way across the sand
I see your eyes
Watching me
Calling me
Inviting me
To be with you

Fireflies stardancing
Drawing new constellations
Around us
Sketching
A web of Love
Home now

Past  present and future pulled into a single whole.

You Inside

Wrote this one in the afternoon and it just felt right.

You Inside  -  04 Jul 13

Fleeting smiles
Haunt my mind
Memories of you

The way you kissed
My thoughts
With your eyes
Caressed the inner me
With your lips
Wrote your name
With feather-light
Fingertip touches
On my Soul

Your smiles
Dance round my mind
You are within me

Still feels good to me.

In The Arms Of The Sea

This poem was birthed when I looked out of my window and saw only low-flying cloud ~ inland it would be called fog.

In The Arms Of The Sea  -  02 Jul 13

When the sea
Takes wing
To hold me
I walk in cloud
Grey upon grey
In grey

Cool silence
Wraps me
Moistly
In the grey robes
Of the sea
As she kisses me

Whispers softly
Of gentle waves
Caressing the shore
Combing the sands
As I sleep
In her arms

Then I gently wake
Still wrapped in cloud
Memories of her tales
Still shine in my mind
As the rain
Bathes me

Cloud doesn't get a chance to lift before it hits land here.

Beyond The Edge Of My Dream

This is probably the shortest poem ~ Love song ~ Love story, call it what you will, that I have ever written, even when the title is taken into consideration.

Beyond The Edge Of My Dream  -  01 Jul 13

I wait for you

Then I started thinking that the structure could be changed without altering the words.

Waiting  -  01 Jul 13

I wait for you
Beyond the edge
Of my dream

Which version works best?

Play Me

This poem came to me as I was putting together the acrostic I posted yesterday.  I cannot say more, just hope you enjoy it.

Play Me  -  01 Jul 13

Play me
In the silence of my dream
The pages turned
Of the manuscript
Staves yet unmarked
Without time or key
You hear the music
Of my Soul
And I ask you to
Play me

I rather like the effect contained within the poem.

Amethyst [Acrostic]

Another acrostic ~ just for the fun of it.

Amethyst  -  01 Jul 13

Across the mind streams
Meandering thoughts
Emerge and play their games
Through eternal fields
Holding the days forever
Your Heart captures Love
Simply with a smile
Through lips and eyes

There may be more of these lurking in the deep recesses of my mind.

Lantern

Not entirely certain where the inspiration for this came but it feels comfortable.

Lantern  -  30 Jun 13

Sun kisses the horizon
As he prepares to rest
Earth welcomes him back
To her bosom
To sleep for another night

I light the lantern
To let the Moon know …
I am awake …
I am here

Short but good ~ at least I think so ... [little smile as I type this].
