I was intending to write a somewhat longer poem but the first three lines flowed and inspiration stopped. After a short while I returned to what I had written and noticed that the lines had formed a familiar pattern. Predawn Song [Haikū] - 31 Dec 13 Silence of predawn Broken by a Spirit song Welcoming the sun A little poem to close the year. Goodbye 2013 ~ Hello 2014
The wind was calling during the night and this is my answer. Wind Dance - 30 Dec 13 Round and around Wind dance Playing with our senses Hear the whispers In the night Taste the Moonlight In her hair See the tree wave Welcoming the dance Smell the rain’s Tender shower Touch the memory Of the wind In her dance I think she would approve.
I was wondering what to write when I was suddenly aware of the rain beating against my window. In that moment the poem arrived almost fully-formed in my mind. Watercolour - 29 Dec 13 Brush slips over the paper Wet line of colour Forms shapes Fills out the detail Image of the one I Love Now held forever For me Rain falls Outlines her shape In the air Three-dimensional watercolour Painted in my Heart For me to keep Forever I Love these offerings from Muse.
Listening to the whispers in the silence of the night. Loud Silence - 28 Dec 13 Her smile calls me Lips whisper Love I listen and answer My words form a duet With hers Together we say The things we both want To hear In the silence We know No words need be said I knew the Love songs would not take too long to return.
This is a message of thanks to the invisible guardians who are always present. Walker In Night - 26 Dec 13 Beneath the shadow of night Watchers walk Guardians of our peace In Love they gather us Hold us forever I had it in mind to write another Love song but this poem twisted in my grasp and formed into what you see here. Well ... Muse knows what I should be writing.
Back to the Love songs again ~ I so Love writing them. She Held Me - 26 Dec 13 She held me Gently Tenderly I could hear Her Heart beat Softly It was a Love song As she took me In her arms Looked into my eyes Kissed me With her eyes With her lips I am hers My favourite form of poetry.
A new poem started to form in my mind, I did not expect an alliterative piece to be the result. Silent Shiver - 25 Dec 13 Silent dark Starless in the cloud-filled night Sketching colourless phantoms in Silverpoint detail Sleeping spirits have Spiral dreams to keep them company Scant moments to prepare Stirring wakefulness as you Shiver while asleep See the tired dream Slide into the mind Succubus awaits I did not expect the the content either, especially given the day ~ Joyeux Noel everybody.
Another little Love song which just flowed without any expectation from me. Your Heart - 24 Dec 13 Found In the folds of my pocket A fragment Of your Heart You gave me to keep I cherished it Held it close Kept it safe And through it Sent my Love to you A slightly different feel to this one.
I cannot say, with certainty, where the inspiration for this poem comes other than catching a glimpse of Moonlight through clouds just after midnight. Jade Robe - 23 Dec 13 Moon watches Her fingertips washed In the waters of my Soul’s dreams Velvet jade robe Swirls gently as she moves Silver light from her hands Fills me Fills my Soul Shine sweetly Princess Sometimes it is just best to allow Moon to be the inspiration.
I was thinking about what I was going to write and another Love song slipped gently into my mind. A Deep And Dark December - 22 Dec 13 A winter’s stale Tired embers of a Worn out fire Within the hearth We can light A new fire Just for us To warm our days To light our ways And keep our Love warm
Title line “borrowed” from Simon and Garfunkel’s song “I Am A Rock”
This poem grew from the idea of trying to get away from Love songs for just a little while. Muse, however, had other ideas. Time And Times - 21 Dec 13 There was a time When we were young And the Universe Was but a child We played then Little joy-filled games That filled our time Universe has matured As have we Our games have changed In ways we never imagined New dreams fill our minds Dreams no longer New real ~ now real All we have is Love I do not argue with Muse, she knows best.
Another Love song from a slightly different perspective. Things Whispered - 20 Dec 13 Things you whispered Soft words of Love Stroked my ears Your fingers ruffled my hair In night’s quiet moments Your whisper Paints the stars Shows me all I need to know Tells me of your Love Brings happiness I do Love, Love songs.
I now offer a slightly different Love song. Kisses - 18 Dec 13 From a darkened sky A thin Moon watches As kisses draw a line Between the stars Constellations no longer Denote the myth of the past Now they show our future Kisses pull us on Let us follow the path We are being shown Share kisses and us Into our Infinity Love is the same - just the words are different.
A little Love song to illustrate Togetherness. Together - 17 Dec 13 Remember In the night We are always together Kisses tie us Connect us Blend us together Touches In the special ways That has brought us together Love Has made it possible for us To be completely together Something special.~ just ... something special.
I woke today and looked out at grey and thoughts slowly flowed into my mind ... Dancing - 15 Dec 13 Remembered butterfly Dancing Exploring Now low cloud Dancing Hiding everything Through winter Dancing Waiting for spring I remember butterflies.
This poem grew in the very early hours, as they so often do, and was completed before I went to bed. Journeys - 14 Dec 13 Endless journey Through your Heart Wonders to wonders Always wrapped In your Love You took me by my hand To lead me to you Embraced me Laid soft kisses on me Showed me your magic Opened my eyes To see you Allowed me To be with you Sharing Just another little Love song.
This poem formed just a few minutes after I built the post for "Lost" and seemed to be a follow-on from the first poem. Lost 2 - 12 Dec 13 Travelling between worlds Your thoughts touch me Taste me Open my mind To your wonders I have been lost In one world of sad dream Now in your world You hold me Lost no more I don't think that there are any more of these to come but ... who knows?
I have no idea where the inspiration for this poem came from. It just seemed to happen but I rather like it. Remember - 11 Dec 13 Phantom winds blow Through our aged memories Stir the dust rake the leaves Whisper in our ears Remember Changing winds blow Through memories yet to form Shift them into patterns We will remember somewhen Look for them Gentle winds in the now Shaping our thoughts Forming our world We are the memories Of forever Expect the unexpected ~ so I have been told.
A little Love song which formed quite quickly but needed an overnight simmer to allow it to come togetherproperly into the form you see here. She Lives Within - 10 Dec 13 Breath ~ a warm summer breeze Sweet with a fragrance Flowers Eyes ~ fire smouldering From a Heart filled with Love Watching Touch ~ cool winter fingertips Wander down my spine Teasing Living ~ in my Heart her spirit Takes me beyond what I have known Living She is in me around me with me I think this works ♥
A poem with a rather different feel though it still fits into the "limite surréaliste" framework. Hard Rain - 09 Dec 13 Hard rain shatters the night Wakes the sleeping dreams Drags the mind into a new form Opens the way into the formless dark Sleeping through it the rain drops into The dream from an empty night Giving shape to unnamed dream Waiting in the shadows Wondering when I shall eventually drop the "limite" from "limite surréaliste" and how things will change because of it.
I was trying to get some ideas together for this offering when I saw a photograph on Twitter and immediately it all came together so today the poem is ... Reflections - 08 Dec 13 Autumn mists Gentle wrap Soft blanket Lake still No ripples Mirror calm Hold trees Captive beauty Beauty captivating The photograph I saw can be viewed at:
A chance sighting of the title line allowed the poem to be birthed quite rapidly. Walk With Me - 07 Dec 13 Walk with me Along the lanes Past the trees To the edge Of the world Our reality Growing now A crystal form Inviting us on Walk with me A request for company on the great exploration of the future.
Another Love song, similar in some respects to one I wrote recently but I feel sufficiently different to allow for posting it now. Opening - 06 Dec 13 Opening my Heart Was so easy for you You just had to smile As you looked Deep within me Smile as you touched That tender place Which was always Yours to touch Smile as you laid Our Hearts together I just enjoy writing Love songs.
This poem was birthed just a few minutes after I built the post for yesterday's offering. It was not completed then and needed to cook gently overnight, a few lines were added while I was in bed trying to sleep and the remainder emerged a few hours after I woke into the day. It is a folk-song / Love-song which has quite a few roots in my past history of reading and listening to music. Looking-Glass Eyes - 04 Dec 13 We sat together Drank some wine You smiled And I looked into Your looking-glass eyes I saw myself And saw you watching me As we sat and dreamed Of our life together Reflected in your looking-glass eyes You showed me our new world Vast horizons open up And I can see where we are going Where our Love lies … In your looking-glass eyes Seeing myself reflected in those Looking-Glass Eyes and liking what I see.
Anyone not aware of the meaning ... Looking-glass is an archaic phrase for mirror.
This acrostic poem was designed in two parts ~ each illustrating the concept of the Tantalus but forming a complete whole. Tantalus [Acrostic] - 04 Dec 13 Touching you breathing deep Aroma sweet intoxicating Nothing brings me closer To you Arms outstretched reaching Longing but I cannot hold you Untold miles Separate us Interesting, I feel, how one word can be split into two parts ~ contradicting yet whole.
This is another of the poems which were inspired by a chance sighting of a tweet in the Twitter stream. The end result has no relevance to what was read. Butterfly Within - 02 Dec 13 Momentary tremble Wings stir the air Cascading thoughts Tumble from the sky Into our now Butterfly claps wings Stirs reality Opens thoughts To otherness Dwelling within Random thoughts sometimes fire extremely random results.
Many years ago I wrote an acrostic poem entitled "Silent Night With Dream Enfolded". Recently that title, or rather the second part thereof, has been returning to my mind and asking for something else to be done with it ~ so now ... With Dream Enfolded - 02 Dec 13 Wrapped … Moments in the night Where time stands still Wrapped … Evening ended Morning not yet arrived Wrapped … In dream’s soft folds Secret words whisper In dream … Phantoms and fantasy Play special games Sleep … Through the night With dream enfolded One day I may add the original acrostic poem to these pages.
This acrostic poem was inspired by seeing a quote from Gunilla Norris "Within each of us, there is a silence. A silence as vast as the Universe. And when we experience that silence, we discover who we are." This is my little take on that silence. Silence [Acrostic] - 01 Dec 13 Simple secret movements Infused with a magical memory Lifted from the depths Eternity holds the image of itself Now reflected in the mirror of time Connected within and without Endlessly moving I hope I have done justice to the original thought
