There is a house about four miles away along the coast path called Windwhistle and I was reminded of it while listening to the elements of the weather. I am not entirely certain where this poem was born though Simon and Garfunkel with their "Dangling Conversations" line may have something of a bearing. Partially inspired by an article I read about a man who recycles used crayons into whole new ones for distribution to children's hospitals. This poem takes real inspiration from art works I have seen in the medium.
