Darkening Hours

Sitting and watching the way some of the political war-games are playing out caused this poem to be birthed.

Darkening Hours  -  21 Aug 15

Watching the way
Some people
Play their strange
Little games

In the distance
Sabres rattling
Almost
Play a tune
Almost

Perhaps they think
It is a battle hymn
Almost
More like a battle dirge

Now the hours
Wrap around us
A dark shroud
To take us all
Into the night

Not a poem to enjoy but it really wanted to be written.

  1. NOT ONE TO ENJOY BUT VERY MOVING. IT'S A POWERFUL POEM AND UNLIKE ANYTHING I'VE READ OF YOURS BEFORE. THE FINAL VERSE IS ESPECIALLY STUNNING AINSLEY!
