Slow Moving

Dragons return to the poem feed today.

Slow Moving  -  15 Sep 15

No hurry
Dragons watch us
Carefully
Even they see no need
To rush
Slow moving is the way
Yet everything
Is done as it should be

Slow but deliberate in their intentions.

Echoes Of Spring

Another stream dream and thought.

Echoes Of Spring  -  14 Sep 15

Memories of Mayflies
And Damselflies
Still dance above the stream
In the autumn wind
Their dreamed dance
Superimposed
A ghostly image
On the autumn flowers

Interesting how the internal eye can see these things.

Mood Day

One of those days when everything is just grey.

Mood Day  -  13 Sep 15

Grey skies
Touch of rain
Kisses the lips
No smiles
Rain washed them away
No tears
Rain hides them
And as evening falls
The grey darkness
Hides the mood away

Thankful for the evening.

Words In Circles

Another poem triggered by thoughts of the stream.

Words In Circles  -  12 Sep 15

Round
In unexpected twists
Ripples the words cause
Can grow
And
Washing the rocks
Making sand
To sharpen the feet
Round
Tripping over the words
As they whirl around me
Are we back yet?

Rippling through the words in the stream.

Turning

Going with the flow of the tides.

Turning  -  11 Sep 15

Tides sweep out
Across the bay
Tides of emotion
Flood the minds
Tide of tides
Always turning
Always changing
Turn with me
In our Eternal
Turning sea

Feel the waves carry us.

Laudanum Dreams

Just a little whimsical tale.

Laudanum Dreams  -  11 Sep 15

Just one drop
My friend
The dreams will flow
You can be
In the flow

One more drop
My friend
You can relax into the flow
You can be
One with the flow

Just one more spoon
My friend
In your tea
In the darkness
Drown in the flow

To the best of my knowledge I was never given any Laudanum when I was young.  So this is just my imagination ~ I think

See Offered

A Love song, a Lust song and a little more perhaps.

See Offered  -  10 Sep 15

She whispered to me
Come and see what I can
Offer to you alone
Just a little temptation

I looked and saw
Private delights
Meant for me to see
Special sights

Through her eyes
I looked and saw what
She offered
Sea kisses

I Love playing with words and exploring alternative meaning.

Magic Land

Thoughts as I walk beside the stream.

Magic Land  -  09 Sep 15

Leaning forward
To touch the ripples
As they slip past
Watching the Moon dance
On my palm
Kissing my wrist
The magic flows
Filling me
Filling the land

I am in a magic land.

Windwhistle

There is a house about four miles away along the coast path called Windwhistle and I was reminded of it while listening to the elements of the weather.

Windwhistle  -  08 Sep 15

Heading homeward
Listening to the sounds
Play with inspiration
Taking memories
Entwining them with the wind
Letting them flow
Whistle calls them home
From their clifftop playground
Windwhistle
Melody of an afternoon dream

Funny how the memories come wandering back.

Open Ended

I am not entirely certain where this poem was born though Simon and Garfunkel with their "Dangling Conversations" line may have something of a bearing.

Open Ended  -  07 Sep 15

Sentences
Words left hanging
Above the abyss
Of silence
Shall I complete
Will they be completed
By someone else

So often sentences are left unfinished.

Used

Partially inspired by an article I read about a man who recycles used crayons into whole new ones for distribution to children's hospitals.  This poem takes real inspiration from art works I have seen in the medium.

Used  -  07 Sep 15

Well-used blunt crayons
Still tell the tales
Of beauty
Across the page
In lines and shades
In warm coloured wax

I wish I had taken the opportunity to work in wax crayon when I was young.

Moon Rose

The Moon Rose is a very special flower.

Moon Rose  -  06 Sep 15

Dark of night
Stars move aside
For the Moon

Her light shines
On the soft pale petals
Of the Moon Rose

I give this memory to you
As a token of my Love
The Moon Rose grows forever

In my Heart

And it grows for YOU.

Jealousy

A Love song and Lust song with more than a hint of Jealousy.

Jealousy  -  06 Sep 15

I felt the jealousy
Flow through me
Cold hard fingers
Raking my spine

Felt the cold thoughts
As I realised
That the wind was doing
What I could only dream

Craved the touch
The feel of your hair
Between my fingers
Across my lips

Wished I could be the wind
Touching you with secret
Private kisses
Being with you

Actually, more than just a hint.

Lonely Sky Lonely Sea

A slightly sad Love song for today.

Lonely Sky Lonely Sea  -  05 Sep 15

Under a lonely sky
I watch the waves
On the sea
Wishing that
I was that sea
So I could be there
To tell you
How much I Love you
As I lap
Against your shore

Wistful wishes.

Music

A statement of how my brain works.

Music  -  05 Sep 15

Music paints the words
I require
Make my songs complete
Allow the songs to form
In ways I never expected
Songs
To charm
To make
Us

This song is left apparently unfinished because of the way the music plays in my mind.

Dream In Dark

Dreams can make reality.

Dream In Dark  -  05 Sep 15

And in the special darkness
Where our dreams are born
I shall wait for you
With a dream of our own
Where we can play
Build dreams to fill the spaces
Left by reality

Sometimes dreams are more real than "reality".

Open Wind

Lying in bed listening to the activities of the wind.

Open Wind  -  04 Sep 15

Breeze rattles the window
Against the latch
Open to allow
Circulation ~ breathing

Along the street
That wind gathers the leaves
Discarded
Brown
And each tells tales
Of autumns yet to come

And the tales the wind carries with it.

Blood Wine

Remembering what it was like to feel the effects of wine.

Blood Wine  -  03 Sep 15

In the darkness
Explored by the wine
Hinting of hidden places
To go and find
Within them I wait
Ready to find me

In the cup
The blood of grapes
Strong
Leads me on
Into the darkness

I have not drunk wine for ages but the memories are strong still.

Ancient Mothers

Part of a mythos of protection from the Elders.

Ancient Mothers  -  02 Sep 15

In the hall
The ancient mothers
Gathered to watch
Again
For centuries
Their vigil of Love
Has protected us

We are always being watched over.

Unexpected [Acrostic]

Another challenge ~ find a valid "X" word.

Unexpected [Acrostic]  -  01 Sep 15

Universal movements
Nuances from hidden stories
Explained but refusing to listen
Xenopus swims deeper
Pinprick stars overhead
Eternal light
Clouds cannot dim
Tales of the dawn time
Eternally woven
Dreams of existence

Xenopus is an entirely aquatic clawed frog

Time's Mirror

A little poem with a hint of "limite surréaliste" in the flavour.

Time's Mirror  -  31 Aug 15

Painted hours
On the mirror
Time waiting
For an our
To see the face
Reflected
Time on hour hands
Seconds ticking into
Our long moments

A little hint of the spices makes all hte difference.

Wind Talks

Another observation, this time auditory, as I lay in bed listening.

Wind Talks  -  30 Aug 15

Rumbling wind
Through a partly
Open window
Pretending thunder
Carrying a touch
Of rain

Always good to listen when anybody or anything talks.

Gold At Sunset

Somehow more beautiful than the usual "every cloud has a silver lining", I watched the sky at sunset.

Gold At Sunset  -  29 Aug 15

Hint of gold
On the fringes of
Wisps of cloud
Treasures of the day
As the sun sets
Remembered
Through the night
To welcome the new sun

A really Lovely sight.

Free Movement

This poem is an addition to the "limite surréaliste" sequence, the first for a long while.

Free Movement  -  28 Aug 15

Dolphin sky
Smiling cloud in blue
Marjoram bouquet painted
Fronds sketched
In purple charcoal
Free movement
Across a hazy dream
Leaving a watery
Memory trail
Mermaid’s footprints

I hope you like it.

Jackdaw Roostcall

Pure observation brought this poem into being

Jackdaw Roostcall  -  27 Aug 15

Jackdaws flying
Through the evening
Sunset passed
Sky still bright
Calling to their friends
Go home
Time to roost
Heading for the nests
Flying south
Toward the Moon

I found it fascinating that the Moon was low in the southern sky at the time.

Flicker Time [Acrostic]

"Inspired" by momentary power-outages which managed to turn off my computer.

Flicker Time [Acrostic]  -  26 Aug 15

From a peaceful night
Lighting inconsistent
Incandescent failings
Causing frustration
Killing pleasure
Endlesly
Repeating

Torch close at hand
In case
Momentary power loss becomes
Ever longer

I really do not want this to happen again.

Evening Lights

A gentle Love song while watching the lights of evening.

Evening Lights  -  26 Aug 15

Evening closes silently
Shop lights shine
Streetlights
Light one by one
In the distance
Lighthouses
Rhythmic twinkle
Above us the stars
Celestial twinkle

And in the evening glow
We rest together
Listening to the sighing wind
And the soft singing
Of the stars
Our gentle arms
Cradle us into sleep
Together

Evening lights are often the most magical.

Tasting Me On You

Another decidedly sensuous Love song and Lust song.

Tasting You On Me  -  25 Aug 15

Moving slowly
Taking your hands
Kissing your fingertips
To taste your memories
Of me

Other images
Are so very clear
On my tongue
I taste my thoughts
Of you

The tastes we have
Mingle ~ blend
Shape into something new
A flavour
Of us

I Love the flavour.

Wounded Flute

This poem was inspired as I listened to practice scales and I heard a few wrong notes, thus I felt the flute was wounded.

Wounded Flute  -  24 Aug 15

Listen to the cries
Of the wounded flute
In an afternoon
The plaintive call
Echoes across the day

My apologies go to the player of the practice work but ...

Time Kissed

Just a little Lust song shared in the shadows.

Time Kissed  -  23 Aug 15

Kissed in the shadows
Between the trees
Time hinting at more
Through the leaves
Watching us carefully
We all knew where
Kisses can lead

Yes we do know where kisses can lead.
