Unwritten

.
An ephemeral manuscript.

Unwritten        -       14 Jun 22

Footprints on the sand
Fade before long
Washed by the waves
Back into
The unwritten

The composer
Is still writing
And the feet
Have not stopped
Moving yet

Unfinished symphony of life.

Wind Of Stars

.
The footprints are everywhere to be seen by anyone.

Wind Of Stars        -       12 Jan 22

Passing in the dark
Never touching
But the wind of stars
Leaves a memory
On the earth
Footprints of a day
In the shadow
Of a dream

Seen and occasionally felt.

Seeing More

.
Be aware of your surroundings.

Seeing More        -       11 Nov 21

On a dusty road
Nothing is clear
Even the footprints
Are blurred
A careful eye
Is seeing more
And the secrets
Of the journey
Are revealed

And you shall see.

A Path

.
Travelling in expectation.

A Path      -     10 Sep 20

Walking
No other footprints
Are visible

A path wherever
Woodland
Beach
Sea
I am taken

Where
I know not but
When I arrive
I will see

The path will show.

Open Door

.
Watch but leave no mark.

Open Door    -    16 Dec 19

Through an open door
I have watched
Times slipping
From hands unfolded
Dust upon the ballroom floor
No footprints
To mark the passage
Of the hours
I look to another door
Framing a figure
Watching me
I leave no footprints

Not even one footprint.

Always With You

.
Thoughts about the one special person.

.
Always With You   -  12 Sep 19

Two sets of footprints
On the sand of an empty shore
Near slow dancing ripples
Of a leisurely ocean
The footprints follow
The feet as they measure
Time spent together
Secret words say one thing
I am always with you

.
Walking together through all our lives.

Sand Tales

Reading the secret messages on the beach.

Sand Tales  -  14 Jun 17

On the sands
Footprints tell the tale
Of passing hours
And pauses
To watch waves dance
To dream in the flight
Of the seagulls

Those tales tell all.

Written By Lovers

Remembering the beach.

Written By Lovers  -  22 Aug 15

On the sands
Four footprints
Walked together
Writing a story
Which could be read
By Lovers

Pauses in the pattern
Told of kisses shared
In the manuscript

Though this never happened for me.

Ocean Dreams

A return to the Ocean theme that was part of my writing for a while.

Ocean Dream  -  14 Oct 13

Footprints in wet sand
Ocean claims them back
As they fade
Dreams
In sunlight

Warm Ocean waves
Wrap
Caress
Words written in the sand
Whisper now

Dreams in far-off lands
Where the footprints
Come to rest
With the Ocean
Cradling

Good to have her back again.

Angels

Another little Love song, I was expecting it to be a bit longer but discovered that it was complete at this length.

Angels  -  04 Oct 13

Angels leave footprints
On the beach of my Soul
Gentle traces spell your name
At the waters edge

I have been to that waters edge ...

Map Of The Amethyst World

I had intended to post this yesterday but felt that the poem I did post was, in a lot of ways and for some good reasons, more important.  So I now present the Amethyst Map,

Map Of The Amethyst World  -  01 May 13

Footprints on the waters
Cleaving the waves
Diving
Spiral dance
Water born
Carried to the depths

On crystal paths
We walked
Invited on
By a Dolphin’s song
Across the map

Crystal halls
Surround and shine
Through our dreams
Where mysteries are told

Records in the Amethyst
Inscribed ~ shown
As we read

Dolphins give us Amethysts
Then request that we

Move on

I can feel that there are more Maps to come.  I know that Muse would like me to add more.

Morrow's Map

This poem grew in the afternoon when Muse suggested a slightly new direction and has implied that there is even more to come.

Morrow's Map  -  29 Apr 13

New day blossoms
Threads of sunlight
Wrap my thoughts and take them
Into worlds anew
The legend undrawn …
Dragons ahead?
Or something more wonderful?

Breathe in the essence
Of the blossom
Walk into the day
Look around
Watch for the footprints
That can lead to
New wonders

Watch the way
The map
Unrolls ...

I quite like the way this "Map" series is progressing and I getting a glimpse of new vistas.

Hourglass

An accidental viewing of an hourglass on someone's blog really tickled my thoughts and I had to write this.

Hourglass  -  01 Apr 13

Hourglass
Sand trickling down
Forming mountains

Look carefully within
See the footprints
On the shore

Never filled
By the falling sand
Remembered feet

Eternity’s gift
One word that says our Love
Forever

Muse approved of this image.

Footprints

One of the many good things about staying up really late when all others have long since gone to sleep is that Muse comes whispering and offering suggestions.

Footprints  -  01 Feb 13

Sand on a distant shore
Holds footprints
Single line ~ unmeasured
Seeming without purpose

Watch the water
Fleeting glimpse of silver
Hidden words in dreams
Your times shown in shadow

Ocean dreamer play now
Sing your mystery
Walk beside me
Across the sand

Thank you Muse.

A Sad Song

Writing, once again, in the dark of night with soft music for company. Muse said, "your turn" and asked me to take up pen and write.

A Sad Song - 06 Sep 11

I know I said it
Once
A long time ago
As I walked toward you
I said
I love you
But now I realise
I was walking in vain

I know I said it
In the dark of
A starless night
When even the Moon
Chose not to look
And my words
Lost their way
In the dark

I know I said it
But dark tears
Washed the traces
The feint footprints
From the path
And my lost words
Were walking in the rain
Again

Interesting how a thought can take you into places that have not been explored and can only be seen in the dark of night.
This poem / song is not autobiographical, nor is it about anyone I know, it is just a feeling that grew out of the music to which I was listening at that moment.

This is my offering for:
