A long slow rumble
Dragon purr
In the warmth
Of the lair
I awoke
A smooth hand
Stroked my cheek
Wandered down
I awoke
Rain beat
Against my window
Listening to a record
Suddenly silence
As the power failed
I awoke
And the sand
Under my hands
Began to irritate me
Gritty
I awoke

Kissed in dream
By a maiden fair

Virgins sign the paper
With invisible ink
Claim the poems
As their own

Imaginary virgins
Sketched on dragon back
By a poet
In his sleep





Have we not created Dragons and virgins [they could be male too] to populate our secret worlds and poems?

Across the silver Moon
Midnight holds no secrets
From the Dragon eye
As he watches
Through the night





They are everywhere ~ all you have to do is look.

This poem does not seem to fit into any of the usual categories ~ so here it stands.

Once upon a time
Ancient stories once started
To draw you in
I have been there
And under a full Moon
The Dragons walked
Danced their lives
Danced their Loves
As the Moon kept them company
Watched and smiled
As the Dragons flew
Danced with the Moon





A fairy tale in feel but so much more.

I quite like the way this "Map" series is progressing and I getting a glimpse of new vistas.

After a comment on yesterday's post suggesting that there were more "Map" poems to come, Muse agreed and showed a few suggestions of her own ... here is the result.

Cartographers said
“Here be Dragons”
When facts ran out
And the space
Had to be filled

The Dragons watched
As we danced
Through shimmering halls
Across walls
Of starlight

Reflected in the mirror lake
The dark map
Shows the path …
We are invited
By Dragon wings

I feel that there is at least one more poem to come in this series.

Haikū - 10

Muse has been prompting me with a few new Haikū but no new large works so I shall continue with the archive and present the tenth selection.





Dragon

Beautiful Dragon
wings furled and folded heatly
takes food from my hand


Taint

Taint of black against
the sun, clouds bringing the rain
water spring flowers


Flight

Beating in night air
whisper soft, felt as a wind
Dragons taking flight


Capacity

Everything you do
shows your capacity for
Joy and Divine Love


Spirit

Spirit surrounds me
enters me, to hold my Soul
safe, warm, protected


Sacred Geometry

Circles drawn on ponds
the Sacred Geometry
nature shows us how

Write a Senryū -
thoughts needed to get it right
clears your mind of fog

Awake

As is quite often the case with these posts, I selected this totally at random. The amazing thing is that it has relevance to me at the moment in something I am going through; I will not discuss it further here, it is not the time or the place, but instead just offer the poem for your reading pleasure.



Awake 05 Jan 93

Across the sand
Beneath the waves
A thousand feet
In unique rhythms
Journey
To find the stones
In circle round
Or standing proud
In lonely majesty.
And
When found
To dance
The eternal
Dance

Awake
The sleeping Dragon
From slumbers deep and ancient
Awake
Your mind, free your thoughts
From paths so well trod
That the meaning has for so long faded
