Joyfully Burn

.
Bright and beautiful.

Joyfully Burn         -          19 Sep 22

In a mind well travelled
Through lands unknown
I watch the colours shift
Bring patterns to life
Weaving words into
Sentences of mystery
And watch them
Joyfully burn
Illuminating the world

Dance of light and life.

Wishes

.
In my mind I see all this and more.

Wishes       -       07 Jan 22

In the wishes of a dying day
The dream goes on
Still carrying the colours
Of distant mountains
Wrapped in eternal mists

I can smell the mist.

In My Eyes

.
Perception.

.
In My Eyes      -      08 May 21

The world has changed
Colours are different
Subtly altered
No one else seems
To have noticed
But in my eyes
Nothing is the same

.
Have you noticed the change?

Morning Light

.
See what is coming.

Morning Light     -     12 May 20

Dawn
Colours the world
Through the haze
Brings scintillating
Magic
With the morning light
Opens the door to the day

It is ALL magic.

Shifting

.
Exploring the shift.

.
Shifting   -   02 Sep 18

Slow movement carries
Unexpected words
Shifting colours blend
With textured shapes
Forming forming
Worlds of people
Waiting to shift

.
We are all waiting to shift.

Midnight Themes

Another music inspired poem.

Midnight Themes  -  18 May 18

Music flows through my mind
Colours flood my thoughts
Blending into a symphony
Of strange ideas
Themes born in midnight hours
As conscious minds
Dream the music

There is also a colour based concept.

Old Songs

This poem was birthed when I rediscovered a folk group I first saw and heard when I was in the final year of my school.

Old Songs  -  11 May 18

Memories
Brought back into daylight
Because a name was mentioned
Now the old songs
Play again in my mind
Fill my ears
The colours flow
As they did all those years ago

The group was Hunter Muskett and their first LP was titled
"Every Time You Move"
Worth listening again.

Painted Stars

A lyrical observation.

Painted Stars  -  30 Mar 16

Palette of fire
Sunset draws
A dark curtain
Across the day
Allowing colours
To flow from the sky
Painted stars

Can you see the song?

Lost Colour

Searching for something which can never be seen.

Lost Colour  -  10 Nov 15

All my life
I kept looking
Searching
The colours never
Seemed complete
Always something
Missing
Yet caught by
The corner of the eye
...
Lost again

Except as a hint.

Rainbow Building

Colours from a Lovely day together.

Rainbow Building  -  08 Feb 15

Gathering colours
From a midday sky
Pale blue shot through
With white gold
To wrap you

I take the shades
Of a sunset
Crimson fire
Warm to wrap me
Make me shine

Between us
Let us build a rainbow
To clothe our world
Bring light
For us

Playing with rainbows.

Aurora Songs

This poem has more than just a hint of "limite surréaliste" to it.  The feelings in this poem were playing around with my thoughts for quite a while before they came to be written out.

Aurora Songs  -  04 Jan 15

Listen to the sounds
Playing singing
In your mind
Sing with the colours
Whispering aromatic words
Through streets
Strewn with rainbows
Aurora songs
Sung in our Hearts

Multi-coloured dreams and songs.

Afternoons

A poem with a hint of a Love song.

Afternoons  -  16 Nov 14

Afternoons in sunshine
Painted silk
Blowing in a gentle breeze
Hint of rain
Carried in the air
Sweet smells
Fading slow evening whispers
Invite the afternoon
To share the colours
The stories
The dreams

Dreams of Love.

Spinning

Playing with colours in dreams and elsewhere.

Spinning  -  01 Aug 14

Spinning around
Between the images
Of the dreams
Painted on sand
In colours
Never imagined
Woven into cloth
Worn by angels
As they dance
Across the sand
And in the forests
Of night
The colours sing

The colours can sing ~ listen.

Drifting Through Afternoon

I am not at all certain where the inspiration for this poem came ~ but I am glad it did.

Drifting Through Afternoon  -  04 May 14

The afternoon’s mellow drift
Colours melt into dream
Hands intertwined
Cradling thoughts
Listening to soft words
Washing like gentle waves
Across my shore
Your smile
Is my sun
And in your eyes
The stars

Just another little Love song.

Brushes

Another example of Muse offering just the opening line and suggesting that I finish it.

Brushes  -  10 Jul 13

Soft subtle strokes
Paint you
On me

In my mind
On everything
I do

You have taken
My colours and
Painted you

You have added
Your colours
To me

Our rainbow palette
Has left new colours
On us

I Love the way Muse works with me.

Random Wishes

This poem was birthed in the afternoon and I found that the images, both visual and in other sensual forms, started to grow in my mind and I felt that I just had to write it out.

Random Wishes  -  08 May 13

Taste the colours
And ask for a song
To be played
Something soft
In a magenta minor key
To clothe the dreams
I have of you

Smell the words
Roses and honeysuckle
Sketch an image in my mind
Where your song
Plays … gently
And the images of you
Shine brightly

Touch the memories
Held close
And intimate in me
Shared by you forever
Forever ours
To live whenever
We choose

I find that the methods Muse uses to attract my attention are totally fascinating.

Colours of Evening

Looking out of my "office" window toward the West, my gaze was drawn to the sky and this poem grew quite quickly.

Colours of Evening  -  05 Apr 13

Pale salmon
Floats across cerulean
Crows return by twos
To roost
Old gold sunset
Has a smoky hue

Tasting the colours
Fleeting images
Fast changing flavours
As evening
Paints the world
With a soft brush

Muse has some interesting ways to lead me to be inspired.

Haikū 72

Another small selection from the hand-written Haikū archives.

Easy + Pulse + Touch  -  18 Jul 10

Gentle tender touch
makes it easy to Love you
Soothes my racing pulse

Asset  -  18 Jul 10

Your greatest asset ...
A warm tender Loving Heart
so easily shared

Bare  -  18 Jul 10

My Soul ~ bare to you
You took it ... nourished ... Loved it ...
Gave it back renewed

"Roses are ... "  -  19 Jul 10

Roses are a pale
substitute for your beauty ...
Let me gaze on you

Fantastic  -  19 Jul 10

Sunset swirling light
Fantastic colours burning
in the evening sky

There will be more to come.

Shadows

Another example of a poem which grew from a two word hint from Muse, this time it was the first line and it flowed quite well from there.

Shadows  -  19 Feb 13

Chasing shadows
In the corridors of my mind
Ancient portraits
Hang on dusty walls
Sightless eyes stare
As I pass below

Cobwebs blow
Shaken by the wind
Of my frantic flight
To catch a fading fragment
Of a shadow
Printed on faded wallpaper

Shadows drift
Living in imaginary places
Where sunlight takes on
Colours of a dream
Still I run to catch
Shadow chasing

Thank you Muse for yet another lovely, gentle, push.

Rain Flows

I had just finished writing a review of a draft poem a lovely friend intended to post and included in what I had said I wrote the line "Rain flows in my mind". I realised then that I had to do something with it and gradually the remaining words flowed into my mind. After a few more prompts from Muse the poem was completed today.

Rain Flows - 24 Aug 11

Soft drumming on the roof
Trickle from an open tap
Within the cloud
Rain flows in my mind

Each drip translated
Into light
Scintillating
Coruscating
I see the colours
Of the sound

Rainbows writhe
In syncopated symphonies
Dance in light
Across the rivers
In my mind

Seeing the song
Hearing the light
Feeling the dance
Of the rivers
Rain flows in my mind

I offer this to you, make of it what you will - Muse doesn't always explain the meanings of the poems or prose that she inspires - but comments are, as usual, always welcomed.

This is an offering to http://dversepoets.com/2011/08/23/openlinknight-week-6/
