Frozen

.
My rainbow is in ice.

Frozen      -       12 Oct 22

Frozen
Thoughts held in ice
Air crystal shatter
Fragments cascade
Rainbows encased
In ice
Cannot shine

Writing can be difficult.

Cascade [Acrostic]

.
I can hear it and see it too.

Cascade [Acrostic]        -        13 Jul 22

Cherished falls
Above the lake
Scintillating ripples
Causing rainbows
Across watching eyes
Dreaming in the
Endless cascade

Quite an enchanting sight.

Crystal

.
Look beyond the facets to see more.

.
Crystal       -       08 Jul 21

Shards of light
Cast seeming at random
Rainbows from a crystal
Illuminating
The depths of thought

.
A touch of sun is all that is needed.

Wishing

Being in one of those special places.

Wishing   -   17 Jul 18

Rainbows
Above a secret well
Filled with hopes
Holding the hopes
Of a thousand people
Wishing
For something more

.
Probably so much more than a thousand.

Dreams Of Light

Observation again, illuminations from a streetlamp.

Dreams Of Light  -  21 Sep 17

Rainbows on the window
Spectra painted by
My breath
Words ephemeral
Dreams of light
Drawn from within me
As I speak

Interesting what can be seen if eyes are open.

Ondine

Reminded of Ondine after watching a DVD and my mind was taken by the name.
I checked on the myth and was inspired to write this song.

Ondine  -  20 Mar 17

She danced across the water
Joyfully
Feet lightly touching
Scattering spray
Laced with sunlight
Rainbows fell into the water
Sound of her song
She smiled
And danced more

Ondine comes from Latin roots, unda meaning wave and means “water spirit”.
Now used as a female first name.

The DVD was "Black Widow".

Crystals In The Dawn

Observation or memory or perhaps both.

Crystals In The Dawn  -  14 Nov 16

Scattered across the lawn
Refracting rainbows
Crystals wait for the moment
As the sky lightens
Dew trembles
Dawn opens
Wafts the crystals away

I have seen the rainbows on the grass, though not recently.

Smiles In The Rain

Sudden realisation, an epiphany, about what I need to know.

Smiles In The Rain  -  06 Jan 16

Sudden understanding
Without the rain
There can be no rainbows
Without the night
The glory of dawn
Would never happen
Without your absence
The Love you bring
Would not be so intense
And so I have
Smiles in the rain
While I wait for you

Smiling in the rain because of YOU.

Sliding Into Dream

An idea of the way my thoughts and dreams work.

Sliding Into Dream  -  25 Sep 15

Whether I am awake
Sleeping
No difference
Your rainbows flow
Around me
Gather me up
A gentle wave
Takes me
Sliding into dream
With you

Sometimes just purely Lovely.

Rainbows Playing

Another weather observation even though there were no rainbows to be seen.

Rainbows Playing  -  31 May 15

Sun dances
With the shadow
Of the rain
Rainbows glimpsed
Between the fleeting cloud
Not long lasting but
Waiting for the next shower
Playing in the warmth
Watching the clouds

I was able to see the rainbows in my mind though.

Aurora Songs

This poem has more than just a hint of "limite surréaliste" to it.  The feelings in this poem were playing around with my thoughts for quite a while before they came to be written out.

Aurora Songs  -  04 Jan 15

Listen to the sounds
Playing singing
In your mind
Sing with the colours
Whispering aromatic words
Through streets
Strewn with rainbows
Aurora songs
Sung in our Hearts

Multi-coloured dreams and songs.

Muddy Rainbows

Another of the poems which were inspired by an observation of the weather.

Muddy Rainbows  -  15 Oct 14

Rain washed
Muddy rainbows
From the street
Spilled
From careless cars
Night dark
Cloud dark
Rain pours filling streams
Claims the rainbows back
To shine again
Tomorrow

Interesting how much inspiration comes from sight or hearing events in the outside world.

Rain Wash

This poem was inspired while looking out of my window on a dark afternoon, watching the rain fall and seeing two young people walking past laughing and without any form of rain protection.

Rain Wash  -  18 Aug 13

Gentle drops
Chase each other
Across the sky
Cascade around me
Wet
Happy
Shower in the rain

Tomorrows wind
Blows through my memory
Catching the raindrops
Making rainbows
For us
We
Shower in colours

I Love the way Muse offers her suggestions.

Rain Land

This is the result of one of the most extensive re-writes I have ever undertaken.  A lot of the original words are still present but there have been a lot of additional parts added.  I feel that the end result justifies the extra work.

Rain Land  -  27 May 13

Rain darked sky
A spark within me
Illuminates the world

Feel the rain and
Smile
Throw your own rainbows

Through the sky
Whispers suggest
Always something new

Spirit says move on
New worlds to explore
New Loves to feel

So ~ moving on
Joyful smile
Love seeking Love

This was originally intended to be part of the "Map" series but Muse thought otherwise, as usual she was correct.

Day Dance

This is another of the things which suddenly grow but for the first time it grew into an actual song to which I may attempt to add some music at some point - in the meantime I present the lyrics.

Day Dance - 05 Mar 11

We walked along the sand
Hand in hand
Footprints leaving little pools
Slowly filling with the memories
Of our passing...

[Chorus]
You shared the dawn
With me
We took the afternoon
Into our hearts
The evening flames
In the fireplace
Warmed us
Promised us
A new day for our journey

The gentle waves of today
Sound in our thoughts
Like the songs
We sang in the dawn
Rainbow sky
Aurora shine
Morning

[Chorus]

Watching birds
Dancing on the ocean
Dancing with our thoughts
Playing
Afternoon games
Slipping slowly into the west
Carrying our words
To illuminate the sky

[Chorus]

And when the day closes
Eventide mysteries
Together we watch the flames
Dance around the logs
Starlit patterns
Shining bright
Dreams catch them
Burn bright to show a new path
Into a new day

[Chorus]

This feels good to me, what do you think?

Rainbows

In the very early hours of the day I kept hearing the word rainbows in various places, internal and external...and it was only when I really started to think about what I was hearing that this poem, or rather, series of poems were birthed. Before going to bed I realised that this was going to be a set of acrostic images and just after I woke I constructed the framework on which the poems were built.

Rainbows - 29 May 10

Reeds against the sky
Etched silhouettes against blue
Day just beginning

Overhead the sky is clear
Rain has washed it clean
Amber sunlight
Now begins to paint the dawn
Glowing with the
Energy of a new day

You brought me through with words
Eloquent, written on my heart
Love poems filled with
Little words...filled with you
Overflowing with the love
Written from your heart

Gathering thoughts
Reflecting old memories
Etched in the
Energy of what is...
Never ending

Blissful
Love
Unending
Eternal

Incense weaving through the
Night air carrying the magic
Dancing through the senses
In mystical songs
Giving wings to the thoughts
Of other worlds

Velvet dreams
Inviting
Opening to
Love...
Elemental...
Transformational

A series of acrostic poems linked only by the theme of "Rainbows", two of these have just been posted elsewhere; "Red" is an Haiku and has been given a hashtag and is on the Twitter stream, "Green" is a Gogyohka and appears with the appropriate hashtag on the Gogyohka Junction page.

Lunar Dreaming

This poem formed as I was preparing to shut down my computer for the night - I wasn't able to argue and had to stay awake for a while longer to write it down so that I could post it here.

Lunar Dreaming - 11 Jan 10

Opening a dream
Letting it spill
Across my pillow
In glittering shards
Of rainbow
Fragments
Reflecting the Moon
And dancing
With the images

I rest my head
Among
The sparkling
Pieces of the Lunar dream
And let the rainbows
Fill my mind
And guide me into
Blissful sleep

This was more a kind of wishful thinking - I woke today feeling tired...don't know what I was doing during the night but it wasn't particularly restful.

A few from 1990

Just a few short poems from 1990 this time, two of them seem to indicate that it may have been rather damp that year - I cannot recall whether it was or not but my weather inspired poems are a guide, possibly inaccurate, or may just indicate the mood of the author.

Kestrel 28 Aug 90

Whisper soft, against
A sky drawn grey with cloud,
Hunter seeks his prey
Winged death

Messenger
25 Feb 90

Seagulls soaring, cry
Tell of storms, wind, rain to come
Fly on, messengers

A Dark Night 26 Aug 90

A dark night
Windy
Cloud bound,
Following
A day
With rainbows
On a dark sky
Street lamps
Woke on
A dark day

I don't think my mood was all that damp, dark and gloomy.

Other poems - for another day - may show differently.
