Sleet Hissing

.
Sudden random sound.

.
Sleet Hissing         -       14 Jan 23

The effect of tiny ice
On a plastic roof
Is quite starting
When unexpected
Sleet hissing
At me

.
Is it trying to make a point.

A Hint Of Frost

.
On the air, in my lungs cold burning.

.
A Hint Of Frost        -       11 Jan 23

Always surprising
Feeling the prickles
From each indrawn breath
As the ice is taken
Into the body
A hint of frost
Feels more with
Each breath

.
Refreshing but painful.

Conversation

.
Looks like I am talking to myself but I know night is there listening.

.
Conversation      -       18 Dec 22

Conversation with the night
Darkness wraps us
As we talk
And discuss
The ice
Again

.
Always something new to talk about.

Everywhere

.
Another observation.

.
Everywhere        -         12 Dec 22

Cold everywhere
They have said
With snow and ice
Here just some ice
People have to watch
Where they put their feet

.
I am staying home.

Frozen

.
My rainbow is in ice.

.
Frozen      -       12 Oct 22

Frozen
Thoughts held in ice
Air crystal shatter
Fragments cascade
Rainbows encased
In ice
Cannot shine

.
Writing can be difficult.

Frost Falling

.
Many nights I hear this.

.
Frost Falling       -       17 Jan 22

Before it has a chance
To touch the ground
The rain embraced
By frost falling as ice
Becomes hail
Clatters against the window
Waking the sleeper within

.
Disturbed sleep.

Those Days

.
The dreams are fading.

.
Those Days   -   18 Sep 19

I sit wondering
How long those days
Will last
Before the false dreams
Shatter into a myriad
Crystalline pieces
Ice in the morning
Fading into
Tarnished memories

.
The false dreams sometimes last too long.

Cold Dark

Winter biting with sharp teeth.

Cold Dark  -  02 Feb 18

A winter day
Cold is more piercing
Sharp wind from the north
Carries ice
Dark more intense
More cloaking
Despite the passing
Of the Solstice
Alone in the cold darkness
I wait for the warm sun

Rather uncomfortable.

Watching Old Memories

This is just how it feels sometimes.

Watching Old Memories  -  03 Aug 16

Some have deliquesced
Frost in the warm touch
Of the morning sun

Some melt slowly
Ice in spring
Melts faster

Some never melt
Stones just sit
Watch back

Some old memories
Remain in the mind
Become your myths

How some memories persist.

Hard Rain

Another observation of the weather which inspired a poem.

Hard Rain  -  08 Dec 14

Listening to the rain
Hissing on the roof
Hard sounds
Pebbles
Cast from an angry cloud
Ice
Hard rain

Rain and sleet seem to feature rather strongly at this time of year.

Ice Swan

A Love song with a special theme, subtle yet totally clear.

Ice Swan  -  23 Jul 14

Ice swan carved
Dripping
Revealing a Heart
Your warmed it
Kissed it
Kissed me

Memory of the swan
Held in the water
Drinking memories
Holding them within us
Yet setting them free
Live on

We hold the swan
In us
We share the Love
Always
Together
As we swim

I think it is clear, at least.

Webbed In Dark

When this poem was birthed I realised that it was one of the darker "limite surréaliste" offerings.  It rather pleased me because it really emphasised the surreal nature of where my poems are beginning to wander.

Webbed In Dark  -  28 May 14

Fringes of darkness
Decorate my thoughts
The edges open to reveal
Scarlet dreams and open wounds
Web of dark
Holds me in its thrall
Fingers of ice
Run down my spine
Drip in my memory
Flow through
Unwanted dreams
Fringes of my mind
Lost in the dark

Maybe future poems in this theme will be even darker ~ who knows.

Only One

This poem was birthed without any apparent trigger point, title and a few words formed and the rest just flowed.

Only One  -  10 Jun 13

In the Kingdom
Of the Ice Lord
The Queen’s word
Rules and she has power
Over men

Her lover sits quiet
Calm ~ a gentle smile
Plays across his face
And Love lights his eyes

His Queen
Only obeys one thing
Her Lover keeps it safe

Together they know that
Together they must be

Only one

The Ice Lord’s realm
Must see the power

The Queen can wield
The magic of a special element
Known only to those who care

The Ice Lord’s land
Is ready to melt
Beneath the touch
Of the Queen’s hand

The Queen is taken
Into her Lover’s arms
He offers her the one thing
That can rule her ~
Love

I Love the idea that Muse can just leave a hint for me to follow.

Gogyohka 5

A few more from the hand-written Gogyohka archives.

Fish  -  01 Aug 10

On the marble slab
surrounded by ice
Words
Like the last fish
awaiting new delivery

Sea Fog  -  01 Aug 10

Sea fog
rolling up the valley
internally illuminated
as it swallows
street lamps

Scatter  -  02 Aug 10

My thoughts
before the wind
scatter
like Autumn leaves ...
I try to gather them again

Scatter II  -  03 Aug 10

Cat prowls
Watchbird sees
Sparrows scatter
Cat unhappy
Retires defeated

Cares  -  04 Aug 10

Feeling
the afternoon slip by
Taking
the cares of the day
with it

More poems of all flavours to come.

Night Wind

This poem took a couple of days to fully form and I now think that it is ready to meet the world.

Night Wind  -  26 Feb 13

Night clouds slashed
By the
Sword of wind
Ribbons scattered
Flying free
Flowers of frost bloom
On rooftops
‘Neath the Moon
Blades of ice
Point skyward
Challenging the wind
On the battleground
Of dreams
Unfulfilled

Sometimes a slow birth can result in an interesting "baby".  What do you think?

Wind

This poem grew yesterday as I looked out of my window and watched how the day was changing, rather unexpectedly.

Wind  -  27 Oct 12

In a wind
Carrying darkness
From the north

Ice shards
Slice the day
Allowing

Shred the clouds
Twilight peers through
Muddy sky

Taste of snow
In the air
Wind messengers

Watching for the first
Ice dancers
On the cold winds

Interesting how my Muse inspires me sometimes.

Third Reality

The "Reality" sequence is developing and growing, I'm getting feelings that another one is in gestation and should be arriving fairly soon.  In the meantime I present the third poem.

Third Reality  -  23 Jun 12

Fierce rain
Biting through clothes
Sky bruised
Beaten with a whip of ice

A kiss from a Phœnix
Warm feathers caress
My face

Maidens dance
In formal moves
Scarves draped
From silky wrists

Sun hides his face
Embarrassed
Watching the dance

Knows he cannot join
Simply watches
Wishing
Desire grows

I
Touch
You

These poems are showing more than a hint of Surrealism and this really pleases me ~ thank you Muse.
