Vernal

.
The season changes but the weather has not.

Vernal        -        22 Mar 22

Spring leaves a special trail
April is about to claim
The world back from the
Dark of Winter
The Vernal Equinox
Has dawned

Maybe a little later in the month.

Morning

.
A lot of my days are dark.

Morning        -       14 Jan 22

Still dark
I watch for the
First light to touch
The treetops
Naked now
That winter holds them
Morning has promise
In the glimmering

That first image as the branches turn gold.

September Dreams

.
That time of year again.

September Dreams       -       21 Sep 21

Equinox slides past
Leaving an open space
In my thoughts
I fill it with dreams
September shapes
The coming Winter
Fills it with
September dreams

Some of the best dreams.

Summer Waiting

.
Local observations.

.
Summer Waiting       -       10 Jul 21

Still very grey
Winter has dug its claws
Into the skin of the year
Refusing to let go
And move on
Keeping Summer waiting
To come out and play

.
How much longer?

How

.
This poem was triggered by an actual day.

Why       -      20 Jan 21

Heavy cloud
Obscures the sun
Weaving darkness

Hearth fire welcomes
Our cold bodies
With warmth

Holding the day at bay
Over all the winter chills
Windows mist up again

Such is winter.

Solstice

.
This is a good time of the year.

Solstice       -      21 Dec 20

Shortest day
Longest night
Solstice is the key
To winter

Winter might be starting but Spring is not far behind.

Breath Of A Kiss

.
I have felt those lips.

Breath Of A Kiss    -    29 Oct 19

Her lips
Almost insubstantial
As they brushed mine
In a Winter dream
A secret sacred kiss
Carried on her breath
To marry with mine

Real kisses can be felt anywhere, all I have to do is be open.

Tasting Dreams

.
Slightly surreal but tasting great.

.
Tasting Dreams    -   26 Jun 19

Succulent winter fruit
Born on naked trees
Remembering the flavours
Tasting dreams
Eating the fruit
Through the days
Of winter
Before they are gone
In spring

.
I want to taste those fruits.

Food

.
I want all of these and more.

.
Food      -     05 Feb 19

Nourishment in all forms
The Loving touch
From a special person
Who means more than you thought
The flavor of the winter
Cool stream refreshes
Food means everything
Words and things
In all ways

.
Food comes from so many sources so be thankful wherever it is.

Travelling

.
Thoughts on the season.

.
Travelling     -    30 Dec 18

The path out of Autumn
Leads into the beauty of
Winter
I am travelling on the road
Between the lands
Different worlds
Drawn with a different pen
Welding my own pen
To sketch a new land

.
This is another of the poems which were birthed as I was trying to go to sleep.

Things Changing

.
Not quite an observation, more an awareness of the way the world works.

.
Things Changing    -    29 Nov 18

Beneath the cloud
Which caresses the ground
There are always
Things changing
Life moves on
Even in winter

.
Be aware.

Threadbare

.
Seasonal observations.

.
Threadbare    -    15 Oct 18

Summer clothes
In a threadbare heap
Discarded
Awaiting
The coming of winter

Days grow shorter
Winds are colder now
The fires of winter
Being prepared
In the hearth

.
All around the summer flowers fade.

Curtain Drawn

Snowing and very cold

Curtain Drawn  -  26 Feb 18

In the dark of night
I hear the wind
Calling the Spirit of winter
To sing a song of cold
I close the curtain
Drawn against the night
I await the dawn

Daylight brings no change.

Cold Dark

Winter biting with sharp teeth.

Cold Dark  -  02 Feb 18

A winter day
Cold is more piercing
Sharp wind from the north
Carries ice
Dark more intense
More cloaking
Despite the passing
Of the Solstice
Alone in the cold darkness
I wait for the warm sun

Rather uncomfortable.

Living In Dark

Winter has a good side and one which is not so good.

Living In Dark  -  22 Sep 17

Winter came too soon
I feel the shadows
Crawling around me
Touching me
With a chill breath
Dark wraps a cold hand
Around me

This is the dark side.

Kiss Of An Angel

Four linked modern HaikÅ« for the offering today.

Kiss Of An Angel  -  22 Sep 16

In winter
All is quiet
Waiting for the moment

In spring
Kisses full of promise
Grows through the year

In summer
The promise expands
To fill the days

In autumn
Angel kisses shared
Lights passion within the Heart

Those kisses are delicious and magical.

Doors Of Sunset

An invitation to a special journey.

Doors Of Sunset  -  10 Feb 16

Dark winter
Shattered ice
Drops from the skies

Another time and place
The doors of sunset
Open to the stars

An invitation to the journey
Between the suns
The doors are always open

Would you like to come on a journey?

Time Done

A poem with a hint of "limite surréaliste" just to add a little extra interest.

Time Done  -  04 Dec 15

Different places
The wolf sings
To the Moon
Proclaiming Love
Different spaces
Moon sings of winter
Paradise of white
Lovers dance
Spin the flakes
Different times
Another spin
Of the wheel
Hands suggest
Where we should look
Elsewhere to see
How things are
Done

I enjoy singing to the Moon ~ even if my songs are silent ~ She can hear me.

Dangerous Games

More "games" of war leading to potential real conflicts.

Dangerous Games  -  02 Dec 15

Sabre rattling
Reaching for a crescendo
Dark days approaching
Not just because
Of winter

Winter of our Souls
As the world spins
Into another war
As the men play
Yet another
Dangerous game

Most of which are totally unjustified.

Pendulum [Acrostic]

Playing with words again or word, just one word.

Pendulum [ Acrostic]  -  23 Sep 15

Pausing in our thoughts
Equinox of autumn
Now before we move on
Delving into the
Unexplored land of winter
Light diminishing
Under the travel of the sun
Midpoint of the journey

I really do like the challenge which comes with an acrostic.
