Vernal

.
The season changes but the weather has not.

Vernal        -        22 Mar 22

Spring leaves a special trail
April is about to claim
The world back from the
Dark of Winter
The Vernal Equinox
Has dawned

Maybe a little later in the month.

Imagined Worlds

.
I have seen so many worlds.

Imagined Worlds    -     28 Oct 19

I have seen times
I have seen places
Where the rains of Spring
Caress my face
As I watch the days
Grow longer
I wander the landscapes
Through all the years
Walking in my
Imagined worlds

Perhaps you will see me out there somewhen.

Tasting Dreams

.
Slightly surreal but tasting great.

.
Tasting Dreams    -   26 Jun 19

Succulent winter fruit
Born on naked trees
Remembering the flavours
Tasting dreams
Eating the fruit
Through the days
Of winter
Before they are gone
In spring

.
I want to taste those fruits.

Rain

An observation and a plea.

Rain  -  23 Mar 18

Spring rain
Is still rain
On an already
Saturated land
Enough
Let us have
Some sun
For a pleasant change

I do not want any more rain for a while.

Welcoming

Spring thoughts.

Welcoming  -  01 Mar 17

Buds swell
Prepare to open
Sap rising
Welcoming spring
Hearts open
Love rising

Watching the changes all around.

Kiss Of An Angel

Four linked modern Haikū for the offering today.

Kiss Of An Angel  -  22 Sep 16

In winter
All is quiet
Waiting for the moment

In spring
Kisses full of promise
Grows through the year

In summer
The promise expands
To fill the days

In autumn
Angel kisses shared
Lights passion within the Heart

Those kisses are delicious and magical.

Winter Sun ~ Spring Rain

This is the first of a pair of paired season poems.  The way they formed in my mind rather insisted that these two should be written together.

Winter Sun ~ Spring Rain  -  27 Oct 14

Winter sun
Soft spark of warmth
Between the hazy clouds
Melodies of enchantment
Play soft into the evening

Spring rain
Sings a gentle song
Strokes the fresh leaves
To make them shine
Gold of the coming year

I feel that the way these poems are linked gives each of them more power.

Winter With Spring Waiting

Seeing the leaves and remembering how things change as the year revolves.

Winter With Spring Waiting  -  17 Oct 14

Beneath the layer
Of sodden brown
Fractured leaves
Moist earth
Remembers the life
Holds it close
Soon
Very soon
Spring will claim
The land
And open the seeds
Again

Seasons turn.

Thunder

A little poem with a fairly large dose of "limite surréaliste" to it.

Thunder  -  28 Mar 14

The skies are full
With the dreams
And memories
Of a near forgotten
Time drawn between
A wish and a hoped-for
Kiss
The spring is flowing
Sweet water rises
Washing our time
Filling our Love words
With the
Thunder in our Hearts

One day I may write something with an even larger dose.

Winternet

Just after breakfast my mind sent the pun into my system, this was reinforced by hearing hail hitting the roof of the conservatory.  It was not too long before the poem was birthed.

Winternet  -  16 Jan 14

Ice falls
Dancing on the roof
Skittering across the road
Playing the song
Of January

Winter’s arms
Casting the net
Spread wide
Calling to Spring
To fade the winternet

Despite the pun, I feel the poem works rather well.

Dancing

I woke today and looked out at grey and thoughts slowly flowed into my mind ...

Dancing  -  15 Dec 13

Remembered butterfly
Dancing
Exploring

Now low cloud
Dancing
Hiding everything

Through winter
Dancing
Waiting for spring

I remember butterflies.

Pandora's Toys

The phrase "Pandora's Toys" had been drifting through my mind for about seven hours before it was brought into realisation, though I cannot see where my inspiration actually came from, I offer it to you now.

Pandora's Toys - 09 Feb 11

Pandora's toys
Kept in a jar
By her bed
Taken out
From time to time
To satisfy
Her curiosity

Winter white
Dancing flakes
Frozen ponds
Streams of ice

Spring green
Leaves flutter
Streams flow
Birds sing

Summer gold
Corn dances
Water warm
Sun plays on the sea

Autumn bronze
Time slows
Dreams form
Watched in fire

Pandora plays with her toys
Lets them flow
Around her...through her
Gives them form
Watches them dance
Before she places them
Gently back
For another time

Sometimes poems form without any reason, other than Muse giving me a gentle prod to let them be born.

Phœnix Waking

After a longer gap than I wanted a new poem has been birthed, it was inspired by an Haiku I wrote...

Phœnix flies again
problems removed, singed in the
Fires of Rebirth

...and this poem asked to be born.

Phœnix Waking - 04 Apr 10

The fires of Autumn
Long burned to ash
Waiting
The pyres of Autumn
Hold a magic
Waiting

The morning mists
Of Spring
Shroud the trees
Veil the sun
Protect the mystery
The secret movement
Of a symphony
In waiting

The opening chord
Is played
Phœnix awakes
Carrying the flame
Of a new Spring
Phœnix takes flight
Spreading the magic
Across the land

Phœnix may be a recurring theme, I feel.

Winter Fires

This poem was birthed late yesterday and I present it here...

Winter Fires - 11 Feb 10

Picking through the embers
Of a winter day
Feeling the warmth
Still within
And blowing them into flame again
To kindle a new fire
From the old

We shared so much
We knew
That we couldn't leave it all behind
Or let them grow cold

Around the fire
We shall dance again
And call the Spring to join us
Wake the Spirit
Once again

Old loves - new loves - all the same - - - LOVE
