Circling

.
From the ancient past or just an hour ago.

Circling      -       18 Nov 22

In memory I saw
Strange wingèd things
Circling
Above me
Vision fading now
Replaced with
Autumn leaves

Can I see that far back in time?

Fallen

.
Autumn is touching the trees.

Fallen       -      19 Sep 21

Never feeling the wind
Any more
The leaves have
Already fallen
Earth will soon
Claim them

Sycamore leaves are littering the paths.

Autumn In The Distance

.
An observation of what seems to be happening.

.
Autumn In The Distance      -      03 Jul 21

Not so very far away
I can see the falling leaves
Autumn
In the distance
Speaks its name to me
Asks me
Are you ready

.
Global warming? Not here.

Enough

.
An observation of the turning year.

Enough     -     02 Sep 20

Autumn whispered
In words of falling leaves
That Summer had given
Enough this year
Wanted to rest again
The last bouquets
Collected as reminders
Winter waiting always

The bouquets never last.

Movement

.
Observations on the world.

Movement     -     20 Jul 20

Leaves flutter
Green butterflies
In the gentle breeze

Oceans rise and fall
In the dance orchestrated
By the Moon

Rhythmic movement
Conducted by the
Metronome of time

Watch it, hear it, you can always feel it.

Falling [Acrostic]

.
I Love playing with words.

.
Falling [Acrostic]    -   05 Sep 19

From the depths of crimson
Autumn flames
Lighting the day
Lending colour to the world
Investment in the beauty
No sound as the leaves drift
Ground welcomes them

.
A slight Japanese feel to the offering today.

Crisp Autumn

.
An observation of events as I walk.

.
Crisp Autumn    -   05 Oct 18

Cold air strokes my cheeks
From a northern wind
Beneath my feet
The sound of crisp autumn leaves
Talks to me
As I walk along the lane
Conversation about the year

.
Have you listened to the talk?

Under Autumn Skies

.
Observations as the year turns and the days grow shorter.

Under Autumn Skies   -   07 Aug 18

Under autumn skies
I watch the falling leaves
Scrape the blue from the day
Replace it with gold
Streams are filled with sky
As the ground is gilded
With fragile arboreal gifts

.
Autumn is multicoloured.

Drips

This resulted from watching the rain and thoughts of something else entirely.

Drips  -  07 Aug 17

Leaves hold onto
The passing rain
Washing themselves
In the cascade
Drips wash my mind
And my Soul

What else?  I am not telling.

Autumn Senryū

A form of poem I have not offered for a long time.

Autumn Senryū

I

Leaves washed from the trees
By heavy rain ~ once crisp now
Soft beneath my feet

II

Cloud scrapes the hillside
Harvesting the last flowers
For summer's spirit

III

Autumn holds us all
In a cool tender embrace
Warmth not far away

Quite satisfying I feel.

Dans le Vent

Another weather observation.

Dans le Vent  -  27 Oct 16

In a moment from the dance
Movements of the leaves
Dancing across the ground
Along the paths
Music
In the wind
Invites my Spirit
To dance along

The translation of the French title is “In The Wind”

Autumn Soliloquy

An observation of the time of year and time of day.

Autumn Soliloquy  -  14 Sep 16

Leaves dance
On stray winds
I talk ~ owls listen
Sometimes they answer
But usually
They keep their own council
And the leaves
Dance on
To the music
Of my words

Another night when through half-open window I hear the owls conversing.

Afternoons [Acrostic]

The title is really self-explanatory.

Afternoons [Acrostic]  -  20 Dec 15

All through the hours
Falling leaves imitating
Time sand in an
Empty hourglass
Raking the tiny flowers
Now giving the last perfume
Out into the world
On wings of dream
Now eyes closed
Sleeping in the afternoons

Those Lovely gentle sleeps which make afternoons complete.

Wind Stirring

Watching the movements every day at this time of year.

Wind Stirring  -  06 Oct 15

Calling the Spirit
Of autumn
To dance across
The roof
Sing through
Barely open windows
Stirring the rain-soaked leaves
Into new patterns

There are always new patterns to be seen.

Rain Tears

Another song of autumn.

Rain Tears  -  21 Sep 15

Sky cries
Mourn the passing
Of summer
Colours washed
From the leaves
Once green
Was brown
Now gone

Rather fitting because, as I build this post, it is raining quite heavily adding to the autumnal feel.

Autumn Music

Returning from shopping, passing the church and the roadway is littered with fallen leaves.

Autumn Music  -  19 Sep 15

Wind sighing
Through the branches
Getting bare
Beneath my feet
Leaves scrape and crunch
In time to my steps
Autumn songs
Start to play and the music
Fills my ears

Autumn has a special melody.

Open Wind

Lying in bed listening to the activities of the wind.

Open Wind  -  04 Sep 15

Breeze rattles the window
Against the latch
Open to allow
Circulation ~ breathing

Along the street
That wind gathers the leaves
Discarded
Brown
And each tells tales
Of autumns yet to come

And the tales the wind carries with it.

Winter With Spring Waiting

Seeing the leaves and remembering how things change as the year revolves.

Winter With Spring Waiting  -  17 Oct 14

Beneath the layer
Of sodden brown
Fractured leaves
Moist earth
Remembers the life
Holds it close
Soon
Very soon
Spring will claim
The land
And open the seeds
Again

Seasons turn.

September

This was actually written on the first of the month but what I felt in the air seemed to be setting the weather mood for the month.

September  -  01 Sep 14

September winds
Chill and wrapping around
The sun
Taking his warmth

Leaves beginning to fall
Never changing colour
To something special
Just crispy brown fragments

Tomorrow’s sun
Will not see the leaves
Wind will tidy them away
Ready for the next cascade

Hoping that I am wrong about this weather forecast.
