Rain And...

.
Another of the "I will believe it when I see it" situations.

Rain And...        -        29 Aug 22

Promises
A week away
Rain and strong winds
Drought will be over
They say

So many things
Have been promised
Yet here we sit
In a long dry spell
Still waiting

I never believe any promises made by weather forecasters.

A Gift

.
Something I have received from my one special person.

A Gift    -    25 Mar 20

You held in your hand
Something to give me
Special promises
Which will last forever
A gift from you to me
Love
Straight from the Heart

A very special gift.

Welcome Night

.
A special place to rest.

Welcome Night     -    07 Feb 20

Taking me from the cares
Of another grey shrouded day
Your promises hold me
Gently lifting me
Into the welcome night
Where dreams come calling
To add warmth to my life

.
The special person is here as well.

A Different World

.
A way to unlock the door to start exploring.

A Different World    -    14 Feb 20

Special thoughts bringing
Wished for promises
The shift into a new space
Where unexpected things
Become real
As the experience changes
A different world is born
An invitation to the new
Invitation accepted

The invitation is always open.

A Different World     -    14 Feb 20

Special thoughts bringing
Wished for promises
The shift into a new space
Where unexpected things
Become real
As the experience changes

Ready to explore the new.

Nightwatch

.
Where I am at night.

.
Nightwatch     -     29 Jan 19

In dark of night
I keep watch
Looking for the glimmer
Of approaching stars
Promises to be fulfilled
In time
When the moment is right
I watch for the moment
I will be ready
I keep the nightwatch

.
Look for me as I keep watch.

Dream Grows

A mildly philosophical offering today.

Dream Grows  -  15 Mar 16

In little steps
Upon the foundations
We move through
A wilderness
Of broken promises
Still carrying our dream
It will grow
Not with the telling
But with the living

The best way to grow a dream.

Moments Of Love

One of those little Love songs which mean so  much and carry so much feeling.

Moments Of Love  -  19 Jul 15

In all the moments
I have shared with you
None are more important
Than when we first said
I Love you

A kiss in the night
Special promises
Underline the unspoken
Vow we made when we said
I Love you

Wonderful how three words can mean so much.

Ashes Of Day

This poem grew suddenly and unexpectedly just after midnight.

Ashes Of Day  -  01 Sep 13

Broken offerings
The promises of day
Unfulfilled
Now night arrives
Offers new promises
In the dream
Born of ash

Night lights glow
Freshly kindled
Open flames
New promises offered
Await
New dawn
Shine them out

It seems to refer to the way each new day brings new promise.

Haikū 54

Another little collection from the hand-written Haikū archives.

Symphony  -  07 Jun 10

Symphony of Love
Stars, counterpointed by the
Moon ... in last night's dance

Mace  -  07 Jun 10

Edges of the lake
Reed-mace stands in the water
Naiad staff of rank

Dangle  -  08 Jun 10

Teasing me again
You dangle your promises
before me, like bait

Fix  -  08 Jun 19

Your Love ... no quick fix
permanent cure for heartache
Thank you my Lover

Body-parts  -  08 Jun 10

Look at my body~
parts of which ... craving your touch
... cannot help myself

More things soon...

Secrets, of Love

This poem grew suddenly, and quite quickly, in the very early hours of this morning.

Secrets, of Love - 27 Sep 10

I tasted you...
Once...
Too long ago
The memory of you
Still burns
Bright
In my Soul

Whispered promises
Still echo in my mind
Shared thoughts
Still linger

Images still wrapped...
Wrapping
Holding my thoughts
Keeping them
From escaping back
To the void
I see you
In my dreams
In my waking thoughts
I hold you
There
And in me
Hidden
Where no one else
Can see
And
I shall hide
With you

Interesting thoughts and feelings, for me, behind these lines...there could be more before too long.

Waters Edge

The flow of this poem was blocked for a while but it did eventually emerge.

Waters Edge - 06 and 09 Apr 10

Standing at the waters edge
Feeling the little touches
On my toes
As I look out to see
The horizon
And ask myself, what is beyond?

Can it be the promises offered
Will be fulfilled...
Or be stillborn

Weaving the threads
Taken from the setting sun,
Into a new dream
Colour filled, colourful
Waiting for the moon
To fade into view
To show herself
As guide
As protectress
And the weaver
Of our lives

Show me the dreams
Dust off the old dreams
Shine up the ones
That haven't tarnished too much
And bring out the new
Still wrapped in their
Cotton wadding

Weave them in with
The promises
Keep them dry
But the occasional tear
Will not cause the colour
To run

The promises offered
May be fulfilled
Some may die
But...
Watching as they grow
With hope

On the waters edge
Feet washed by the waves
The horizon doesn't seem
So far...

This poem has now been completed despite the little hitch of being accidentally shown as a work-in-progress, suddenly I found the threads in my hand and it was but a small task to weave them into the new cloth.

Silences

Muse handed me these words, they have no real connection to my life at the moment - I can only think that they come from some previous life.

Silences - 23 Feb 10

What did we have?
When all said and done

A lifetime full of
Meaningful silences
When things
That should have been said
Weren't even mentioned

A lifetime full of
Meaningless promises
Spoken when silence
Should have ruled
And in those times
No one listened
To what the other
Really wanted

Another of my sad images, I am often puzzled as to what levels I am tapping into and why this should be.

Her Promises

After I told someone that there wouldn't be a post here on Muse, because I was having a dry spell, Muse turns round and taps me on the shoulder and requests that I start to write. Problem was that I was doing some messy clearing up so this had to grow in my mind before I could let it out.

Her Promises - 05 Feb 10

She made promises
Promises that sparkled
In the night
That glittered like her eyes
When she smiled

Promises that filled my mind
And dreams...and fantasies
With a promise
Of a beautiful time
To come

When I looked at her promises
In daylight
I saw them for the empty shells
That she had created
And I cried

This is another of the 'sad' phase of poems - I am hoping that this will change soon.

Broken Promises

This little poem arrived without any real warning to me that it was on the way. The links here are to a few points in my past, without which this poem could never have been born.

Broken Promises - 16 Aug 09

Isn't it strange?
After all the talk
And the games
And the promises
We made...

I reached for you
Tried to touch you
And you weren't there
As you promised
I waited
I waited for you to arrive
But...

You said that we
Would never part
And that our love
Was eternal
We promised
That we would stay
Together
Forever
And you said that you
Would be there for me

I never realised
That promises
Were so fragile
And could be broken
Without a thought

But still I wait
For you

I shall wait

My poetic mind embroiders the memory of what was reality and presents it's own version, this is how and why this vision appeared. Nothing I have been through is as heavy as I can portray it as being...though it makes a good story.
