Another short poem which grew from the opening line into what you see here.
Gateway - 10 Sep 13
Gates of Paradise
Held open by a friendly hand
Inviting ~ showing the way
Temple bells softly chime
Concord of bliss
Sweet sounds resound
Inspire the dance
I find it quite interesting that a line can trigger an entire poem ~ especially when I have no idea where it is coming from or where it is going.
This poem was inspired, in small part, by several things; listening to a track from Epitaph called "Visions", remembering the early King Crimson and my own "Warlord Suite". Some of the themes can be heard here though none of them really predominate and this end result is something that is mine. Well, see what you think...
Midnight Journeys - 12 Dec 11
Leaving a trail
Of feathers
Whispering
Of Moon-dark Journeys
And tales
Of secret meetings
On the Temple steps
We
Touched
And
Held
The peacock sings
A mellow song
Of wandering jesters
And tired jokes
Heard only by those
Who know and smile
At the wistful words
And gentle sounds
Kissed
Under
The
Trees
The watchers did not
Understand…but only stood
And swayed
To a random rhythm
Created in thunder
Petted the phÅ“nix’
Fiery back
Regardless of the flames
Lay
On
Silken
Sheets
Watching the serpents
Dance around the staff
Our eyes entranced
We dream the Moon
Into the day
Pull her close to us
Taste sweet kisses
On the fabric of her robe
Midnight
Journeys
In
Dream
The joke here is "the peacock's mellow song" - have you heard a peacock call?
I have been inspired to produce a series of poems based on photographs of the sea or with a water theme and it has been suggested that they are collectively called "Ocean Love Songs". This is the first of a longer work without a visual link though looking at some of the photograhs I have posted on Visions can give a clue as to the inspiration I have been working through.
Evenglow - 31 May 11
Sunset
Temple of Evening
Starfire glows across the sky
Moonrise
Evenglow paints the cloud
Pale pink above the sun
She watched
From Her Rainbow Spire
She saw me stand beside the Ocean
I looked
To catch a glimpsse
Of Her reflection on the waves
Once again I thank Muse for the inspiration.
I shall be compiling the "Ocean Love Songs" in some form before too long - perhaps when I feel that it is complete.
