Dragon Song

.
Something I have experienced on many occasions.

Dragon Song    -    04 Mar 20

Long clifftop path
Above the sea
In tiny dips
Temperature rises
Subtly
A hint of moisture
Dragon breath
As the Dragon sleeps
A soft song
Is a lullaby

In winter the breath can be seen as well as felt.

Nights

.
Transition from day into dream.

Nights    -   19 Oct 19

At the end of a vanishing day
The music of the world
Fades peacefully
Into the nights of dream
Lullaby Lovesongs
Gentle melodies
Dance on in your dream

Allow the nights to wash over you.

Water Of Peace

This poem grew in the night as I listened to the rain beating against my "office" window.  The seeming anger of the first stanza was offset just as I was trying to sleep when Muse offered the second stanza ~ I had to put it on my phone so that I wouldn't forget it before I woke.

Water Of Peace  -  29 May 13

Talking rain
Coarse words in the darkness
No whispers
After dark
Or dreams of day
In momentary distraction
Drops scratching at the window
Demanding to be allowed in
Restless

Always waiting patiently
With open arms
Singing a gentle lullaby
The Ocean welcomes
The rain back to her
Eternal Love ~ eternal peace

When Muse suggests I have to listen ~ even if it means waking and writing something.

Dark Guardian

This took about three hours to emerge fully, the first two stanzas appeared before midnight but the final one didn't appear till nearly 02:00 ~ I work best in the early hours.
This poem could be considered as part of the "Dream" sequence with a hint of "Map" in there too.

Dark Guardian  -  10 May 13

Dark
Encompassing enveloping
Protecting
The stars have not seen
Beauty in the cloak
Of midnight dreams

Guardian of the Mysts
The shades in which
Strange things walk
Defenders of the dream
In the warm dark
Womb of night

And in those midnight hours
The dark shall sing
A gentle lullaby
To guide us
Into a starless
Dream

Once again I thank Muse for suggesting these ideas.
Before anyone comments, I had no idea that the Dark Guardian was a character from a comic book ~ I just felt that the name was rather interesting.

Labyrinth

This is the first esoteric, or even occult, poem I have written for an age.  I am rather pleased with the result.

Labyrinth  -  02 Apr 13

The labyrinth of the mind
Lies behind the secret doors
That hide the mysteries
In plain view

Wolf chants a lullaby
In ancient sacred words
Only the raven knows
The hidden meanings

Raven watches as we dance
The labyrinth and see
Vistas unfold to us
Circling ~ opening our minds

Wolf and raven leave a trail
Of words for us to follow
Beyond the labyrinth’s centre
Opens us to the mysteries

There may well be more of these poems somewhen soon.  Thank you Muse.
