Full Moon hanging in the West 

And from a frozen sky 

Hail 

. 

The modern Haiku still has the three line format but is not constrained by the seventeen syllables structure.

Come Home

A request.

Come home to me 

I have waited 

To hear a word 

Which tells me 

That you are 

On your way 

I have watched 

For a sign 

Which shows me 

That you have heard 

My call 

And will come back 

Come home to me

I will wait for as long as it takes.
