Thoughts do not like silence, they work very hard to fill it with their noise.

Words quiet

Thoughts take over

Fill the silence

With their own noise

Reshaping

The mental world

When real silence

Fills the void

Peace in silence

Sometimes they can be quietened enough for peace to rule.

Waiting Within

This poem grew while I was waiting in a doctor's waiting room for an appointment.

Sitting within my own
Private silence
Listening to
Meaningless  music
Ambient noise
From a radio
Random noises
From a child
Using her father
As an activity centre
I am still waiting





Usually these periods are fairly quiet, just this time not so much.
