Listening to a record from quite a while ago and this was how I felt.

Getting high on the leavings

Words and sounds 

Linger all around me 

Conflict and confusion 

Tie a knot in time 

Ask a butterfly to sing 

Do you understand 

. 

I am not certain that I do.

. 

Forgotten

This is the way things are sometimes.

In the confusion

A clattering of images 

Noises all around

Coloured formless shapes 

Assail my senses

Distract me 

I have forgotten

Who I am 

.

Memory does return, eventually. 

. 

Unexpected

.

Even in the seemingly random there can be found sense. 

.

Words drip from open mouths 

Forming sentences 

As they slide down the walls 

Meanings are lost 

In the confusion 

Of sounds 

But unexpected sense 

Can sometimes be found 

If searched for among 

Random phrases 

. 

It can be difficult to find clarity.
