Recollection

Fragments of my own discarded past, gathering dust somewhere.

Recollection  -  14 Oct 14

Gathering all the old
Dusty remembrances …
Sprig of white heather
Crumbling in the envelope
Perfume on a tee-shirt
From a dance with her
Long faded
Now just the smell of cloth
Remains

Put them all together
In a box
Tape it shut
Leave it on an unused shelf
Probably never to be seen
Again
Not even by me

Look out of the door
New memories forming
With the rising sun

We probably all have these boxes somewhere.

  1. i have one of those boxes that probably hasn't been opened in over twenty years. like the ending of your poem, i'd rather focus on forming new memories....
